SUMMARY
The Program Engineer and Site Surveillance Coordinator works in the Strategic Engineering department in the Engineering Programs section.As Site Surveillance Coordinator, this individual is designated to perform overall site coordination of the Plant Surveillance Program.As a Program Engineer, this individual is responsible for successful implementation of assigned programs that promote equipment reliability and assure compliance with regulations and commitments.
EDUCATION
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar technical degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum (8) years Nuclear Power Plant experience in Engineering, Operations, Work Control, Maintenance, or related field (required)
Previous experience in performing or coordinating nuclear power plant surveillances (preferred)
Familiarity with ASME OM and/or BPV Code Requirements a plus.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
Current or previous nuclear power plant operating license a plus.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
As Site Surveillance Coordinator, this individual will have the following responsibilities:
* Responsible for overall implementation of Plant Surveillance Program
* Responsible for assuring the integrity of Plant Surveillance database
* Responsible for maintaining the Surveillance Frequency Control Program.
* Responsible for proper scheduling of surveillance tests.
* Performs reviews of surveillance scheduling and monitors health of site surveillance program.
* Reviews changes to the surveillance program for impact to operating license commitments.
* Provides technical direction and training to various department surveillance coordinators.
* Updates program procedures.
In addition to Site Surveillance Coordinator duties, the program engineer will be developed to possess an in-depth knowledge of the structure, scope, bases, and program requirements of assigned programs. Activities consist of:
* Ensure program scope and activities comply with changes in regulations and industry guidance.
* Identifies and works with vendors and consultants as needed.
* Attends industry meetings, code meetings, and user groups.
* Strategic planning of program activities including long-range plant investment planning and outage planning.
* Assesses, monitors, and communicates the health of programs.
* Serves as backup program engineer as assigned, developing a fundamental understanding of backup program requirements.
* Updates program procedures.
An Engineering Program is defined as an administratively controlled and ongoing engineering activity that implements regulatory requirements, industry commitments, and industry guidance that is applicable to STP considering good engineering judgement, plant efficiency, safety, operating experience (OE), good business acumen, and management expectations.Along with site surveillance coordinator duties, the program engineer will be assigned to one or more Engineering Programs. Program assignments are based on department needs, individual experience, and individual capabilities. Examples of potential primary and backup program assignments include, but are not limited to: Inservice Testing, Boric Acid Corrosion Control Program, Check Valve Condition Monitoring, System Pressure Testing, Appendix J Leakage Testing, etc.
SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
* Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access
* Strong written and verbal communications skills required.
* Ability to work independently and interface with all levels of personnel required.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering documents and drawings.
* Ability to read and understand Operating procedures.
* Ability to use a personal computer and up-to-date software
WORKING CONDITIONS
* Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed
* Support rotational engineering duty. Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week
* Frequent field inspections in a plant environment and in all kinds of weather conditions. May require working outdoors and at night.
* Activities will involve climbing ladders and entering confined spaces.
