Job Summary
The Production Supervisor — Level 3 is a senior, hands?on leader responsible for multiple production lines or a high?complexity manufacturing area. Beyond operational leadership, this role requires an entrepreneurial mindset: you will identify and incubate process and product opportunities, champion pilot projects, develop business cases (cost/savings/revenue impact), and drive rapid commercialization of improvements that increase capacity, reduce cost, and strengthen customer value. The ideal candidate combines production expertise with resourcefulness, ownership, and a bias for action to turn ideas into measurable business outcomes.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Enforce all safety regulations and PPE use for electrical tooling and chemicals. Lead training on safe chemical handling and ergonomics; act as safety champion.
- Schedule workload across multiple groups/lines to meet volume, quality, cost and on?time delivery targets.
- Plan production and shipments using sales orders, forecasts and material availability; escalate supply risks and propose mitigations.
- Facilitate material acquisition, assembly throughput and WIP control for the assigned area; optimize material flow and staging.
- Provide technical direction, mentoring and formal training to frontline leads and technicians; maintain hands?on support during ramp, qualification and troubleshooting.
- Analyze routings, productivity, scrap and quality trends; perform root?cause analysis and lead corrective actions with R&D, Engineering, QA and other stakeholders.
- Lead / participate in Kaizen / continuous improvement projects and quantify savings. Design, pilot and scale process innovations across lines.
- Conduct equipment/process needs and cost analyses; develop CAPEX and process change business cases (ROI, payback, risk) and lead implementation when approved.
- Act as an internal entrepreneur: proactively source improvement ideas from the floor, validate feasibility through rapid pilots, measure business impact, and institutionalize successful solutions.
- Build cross?functional partnerships to accelerate tooling, automation, and new product introductions; represent production in customer conversations when needed.
- Drive small?business thinking within the area: prioritize high?impact initiatives, manage limited resources creatively, and deliver measurable results against cost, throughput and quality targets.
- Prepare and conduct performance evaluations; administer counseling and corrective actions; forward documentation to HR.
- Maintain documentation control (engineering drawings, process sheets, inspection data) in compliance with ISO and company procedures utilizing internal change request procedures.
- Maintain weekly schedules, production/quality/performance reports and present results and project ROI to leadership.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee records and act with integrity in personnel matters.
- Perform other related duties as required.
KPIs & metrics ownership:
- On?time delivery (OTD)
- Scrap (as percent of invoiced sales)
- Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) or line efficiency
- Labor productivity / standard minutes attainment
- Safety metrics (Recordable incidents, near misses, PPE compliance)
- Cost savings, revenue enablement and CI project ROI
Education / Experience
Required qualifications:
- Associate's / Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, Engineering, Business or related field preferred.
- 5–8+ years manufacturing experience with minimum 3 years in a supervisory role; proven multi?line or complex area leadership preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with production scheduling, material flow, shop floor operations and documentation control (ISO).
- Proven track record of leading CI/Kaizen projects, performing root?cause analysis and delivering measurable cost or throughput improvements.
- Business acumen: able to develop simple business cases (cost/benefit), evaluate ROI and prioritize initiatives.
- Strong safety background and experience training/enforcing chemical handling and PPE procedures.
- Strong leadership, coaching and communication skills; proven ability to develop frontline talent.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., IFS, SAP) preferred.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in electromechanical, interconnect, or high?mix/high?volume manufacturing.
- Lean, Six Sigma (Green Belt) or other CI certification.
- Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Experience managing CAPEX projects, automation initiatives or equipment qualification.
- Supplier development or vendor management experience.
- Prior experience at Amphenol or similar OEM/contract manufacturer.
