As a Project Engineer Intern, you will work alongside experienced Project Managers and Engineers, gaining firsthand knowledge of the construction process from planning through execution. This internship provides an opportunity to apply classroom learning to real-world projects while developing essential skills in project coordination, cost management, quality control, and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in project planning, scheduling, and tracking to ensure projects stay on time and within budget.
  • Support project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, transmittals, and daily reports.
  • Help manage and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Monitor construction progress and participate in site visits and inspections.
  • Assist in reviewing and analyzing project drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Collaborate with the project team to ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Contribute to cost control efforts, including tracking expenses and preparing financial reports.
  • Learn and utilize construction management software (e.g., Viewpoint, HeavyBid) to assist with project administration.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Year: Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student (preferred).
  • Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with construction software (preferred but not required).
  • Other Requirements:
  • Interest in heavy civil construction and project management.
  • Willingness to work on job sites and gain field experience.
  • Ability to travel to project locations as needed.
