A growing P&C Insurance company is growing its accounting team and is seeking an experienced Statutory Accounting Manager with a strong insurance background. This is a hands-on insurance Stat role inside a large, centralized controllership group. You'll report directly to the Insurance AVP and own Statutory (Yellow Book / NAIC) reporting across regulated insurance entities, with 2 direct reports
Hybrid 3 days/week in Shorthills, NJ
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and support statutory financial reporting (Yellow Book): Own Yellow Book & NAIC filings
- Manage quarterly and annual statutory close
- Prepare and review statutory statements, schedules & footnotes
- Lead stat audits and regulator interactions
- Manage and develop 2 staff accountants
- · Partner with GAAP & SEC teams (GAAP exposure helpful, but Stat is the focus)
- Assist with insurance accounting operations, including month-end close and general ledger activities
Qualifications
- 4–7 years of experience in insurance accounting
- Background with an insurance carrier preferred; Big 4 experience also considered
- Working knowledge of statutory accounting and reporting requirements
- Experience with GL implementations or accounting system upgrades is a plus
- Comfortable operating in a fast-changing environment with evolving structures
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
