The Shift Lead is responsible for store operations when a Store Lead, Store Manager or District or Area Manager (each, a "Manager") is not on site. The Shift Lead also provides written and oral feedback to Managers about shift operations.

The responsibilities of the Shift Lead include, but are not limited to, the following :

  • Executes store operations during scheduled shifts and organizes opening and closing duties (as applicable).
  • Maintains a positive team environment that is conducive to an excellent hospitality experience for customers and an excellent work experience for team members.
  • Engages all customers in a friendly, courteous and professional manner.
  • Assists with the training of new team members by positively reinforcing successful performance and coaching new team members for improvement when needed.
  • Develops positive and professional relationships with all team members on shift.
  • Maintains a calm demeanor at all times and addresses stressful situations in a professional manner.
  • Follows all Think Coffee policies and procedures, including all health and safety procedures, and coaches team members to comply with such policies and procedures while on shift.
  • Assists Managers in improving sales volume growth and reducing the amount of food and paper waste.
  • Assists Managers in planning and executing all sales promotions effectively and efficiently.
  • Timely reports all customer feedback to Managers.
  • Proactively addresses potential customer service issues.
  • Answers customer questions regarding specialty coffee (preparation, brewing methods,

etc.) in a friendly, knowledgeable manner.

  • Ensures proper stocking of shelves and preparation of products needed while on shift or for forthcoming shifts.
  • Ensures all deliveries are properly received and managed in compliance with health guidelines and confirms that deliveries match invoices.
  • Understands and executes certified Barista standards.
  • Ensures a clean and organized store in keeping with Department of Health guidelines.
  • Reports potential safety hazards to Managers.
  • Promptly reports any employee and customer accidents to Managers.
  • Informs Managers of any operational inconsistencies.
  • Promotes company philosophy, culture, and core values.
  • Delegates duties to Cashiers, Baristas, and Cafe Chefs and coordinates responsibilities as necessary while on shift.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean, well-merchandised store that follows visual presentation plans and standards.
  • Writes detailed shift notes by email at the end of each shift.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.
  • Frequently required to use hand to finger motions, handle or feel objects, reach with

hands and arms.

  • Regularly required to lift and/ or move items up to 25 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to see far away and close up with the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly required to handle food and hot beverages.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum one year retail experience required.
  • Supervisory position in a specialty store or food establishment preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Well organized, detail oriented, efficient, and punctual.
  • Register and cash handling experience required.
  • Interest in specialty coffee, brewing methods, espresso mechanics and dialing in.
  • Certified as a Barista by Think Coffee.
  • Food Protection certification required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $26.50 per hour
