Introducing advanced technologies and automation to expand manufacturing capabilities.

Infrastructure Replacement
Upgrading aging assets and systems to maintain operational integrity and support future growth.

  • Spare Siemens 38kV Breaker and TIV Thermal Sensor Cameras
  • PFF loading arm rebuild
  • 3-Hi Gearbox Overhaul

Your Role as an Intern

The intern will support the engineering team in projects related to:

  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), industrial controllers, and automation systems.
  • Gain hands-on experience in troubleshooting, programming, and integration of control systems in a manufacturing environment.

What Do We Require?

You must be:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program majoring in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or Automation with a preference for rising juniors or seniors.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Willing and able to work on-site at our Latrobe, PA location.
  • Applicants MUST be US Citizens or Green Card Holders due to Carpenter's government contracts.
  • Ideal candidates will have strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as coursework involving control systems and industrial automation.
  • Exposure to the following is preferable: understanding of PLC architecture and ladder logic; familiarity with industrial controllers (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar); knowledge of automation concepts (sensors, actuators, communication protocols); ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.

Pay Range

Hourly rates are based on: 1 – Program of study; 2 – Degree type (i.e., Bachelor's); 3 – Progression in degree (i.e., 1st year, 2nd year, etc.). The range for this position is $21.00 to $25.00 per hour.

Commuting/Housing Assistance (If Eligible)

Interns who must commute to work from outside the immediate Latrobe, PA area (over 50 miles one-way), will be paid a one-time lump sum
