Job Purpose

The Quality Control Specialist conduct tests to determine the quality of materials and finished products as well as identify areas of improvement to increase efficiency. This position works under close supervision; conducts a variety of tests on assemblies and parts to ensure unit functions, according to specifications, and documents the findings. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure their work is as efficient and safe as possible.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions) *

  • Troubleshoots errors in cable builds.
  • Tests functional performance of assemblies, and parts under specified conditions.
  • Ensures assemblies are built to specifications and that assembly instructions are completed at production sections.
  • Verifies parts used are correct to Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Ensure the drawings are adequate to use and that any red lines have the appropriate authorization and approvals.
  • Perform OBA (Out of Box Audits), when required.
  • When needed back up In-Process and Receiving Quality Inspector positions.
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment in line with company policy.
  • Maintains reliable and regular work attendance.
  • Understanding and adherence to the Safety Codes of manufacturing.
  • Accept and reject assemblies based on prints, specifications, workmanship standards through inspection & test.
  • Create non-conformance report (NCR) per the documented procedures/work instructions.
  • Complete first article inspection (FAI) and appropriate reporting.
  • Inspect and verify all incoming materials and products against purchase orders, packing slips, and specifications.
  • Identify and document any defects, damages, or discrepancies in received items and communicate findings to relevant departments.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to address quality issues and ensure resolutions are implemented.
  • Other duties as assigned, needed or required.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Good working knowledge of electronic assembly
  • Skilled in the use of all types of hand and power tools
  • Able to interpret blueprints, sketches, and/or verbal instructions
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot
  • A strong work ethic and attention to detail is required
  • Ability to work as a team or independent successfully

Working conditions

Powermatic Associates is a rapidly growing organization and as such our team must be very agile and be comfortable working in an evolving environment. The working conditions for this position is primarily sedentary in a production environment; experiences frequent interruptions; required to meet deadlines; requires visual concentration on detail, dexterity and precision. Typical work hours are M-F 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Physical requirements

  • Most work is performed in an indoor warehouse environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to walk 10% of the time,
  • stand 50% of the time and sit 40% of the time.
  • The employee will occasionally lift and or carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Employee may use power tools and testing equipment in the course of a day.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, touch and use tools, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, twist, lift, reach, push, pull, grasp, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, grasp, talk, hear, and walk during the course of employment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and an ability to adjust focus.
