SUMMARY:
The Certified Medication Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the Elizabeth Layton Center's medication prescribers. This position is responsible for the initial interaction with clients and helps take vital signs, completes medication reconciliation, and provides accurate documentation in the electronic health record to help support client care. The Certified Medication Assistant is often the first point of contact for clients arriving for their medication appointment and plays a key role in maintaining a welcoming, organized, and confidential environment. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meets with clients to measure vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height.
- Updates medication lists and allergies at each visit and enters information in electronic health record (EHR).
- Completes and enters the WellRx form in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Answers route phone calls, messages, and client inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Communicates with clinical and case management teams regarding medication appointments, cancellations, or client updates when necessary.
- When needed, manages scheduling for medication providers and coordinate appointment reminders.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), including uploading forms, entering data, and ensuring record completeness.
- Support medication prior authorizations, refill requests, and pharmacy communications under the direction of the medication providers.
- Ensure compliance with confidentiality standards (HIPAA) and agency policies.
- Assist with general office tasks such as scanning, faxing, and copying of documents.
- Maintains confidentiality of all appropriate employee and client information
- Completes other duties as directed
- Completes all required trainings as assigned
- Complies with all ELC policies and procedures
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Certification.
- Experience in a medical, behavioral health, or community services setting strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with medication processes, EHR systems, or healthcare documentation.
- Ability to successfully pass all required background checks
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, and SKILLS:
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to perform tasks accurately, effectively and in a timely manner
- Ability to perform basic mathematic calculations accurately
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials and the public
- Ability to be pleasant, friendly, and helpful to staff and visitors at all times
- Willingness and ability to support a diverse population of patients
- Ability to safely perform safely essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations
