• Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
• Thursday: 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM

• Rocketship Fuerza – 70 S Jackson Ave, San Jose, CA

About the Role

The Bay Area Tutoring Association (BATA) is seeking Academic Tutors to support K–5 students in literacy and math. This seasonal, part-time role involves working closely with educators to guide student learning, provide targeted interventions, and foster curiosity, confidence, and academic growth in a structured tutoring lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Motivate Students: Inspire enthusiasm for learning while setting high expectations for participation and behavior
• Create a Safe Space: Maintain a supportive, well-structured environment and reinforce safety rules
• Guide Learning: Lead collaborative activities and group discussions to deepen understanding
• Provide Small-Group Tutoring: Deliver targeted literacy and/or math sessions aligned with Individualized Learning Plans
• Track Progress: Conduct monthly assessments, share results with families and teachers, and support student growth plans
• Collaborate: Communicate effectively with teachers, administrators, and staff; participate in training and professional development

Qualifications

• Mission-Driven: Commitment to advancing educational equity through BATA's mission
• Passionate Educator: Enthusiasm for motivating and supporting young learners
• Experience (Preferred): Teaching, tutoring, or managing elementary-age students
• Strong Communicator: Ability to connect with diverse students and staff
• Data-Informed: Comfortable using assessment data to guide instruction
• Education: Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required

Requirements

• DOJ Live Scan background check
• Completion of online training modules
• TB clearance
