Job Overview
This position will provide part-time General Dentistry with Endodontic Emphasis Non-Personal Healthcare Services to support the mission of the Albuquerque Indian Dental Clinic (AIDC). The contractor shall provide endodontic services such as the cause, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases of the dental pulp/root canal therapy for Native American patients. The need will be sporadic and occur when a patient's need warrants services.
Work Schedule:
This is a part-time position and the contractor shall be scheduled to work three (3) nine (9) hour shifts for six (6 months per year (9 hrs./day x 3 days/month x 6 months/year). The contractor will be scheduled during the hours of 8:00 am to 12:30 pm and 1:15 pm to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Federal holidays are observed and the treatment center is closed for business on those days. Overtime (OT) is not authorized for this contract. Additionally, the contractor will not accrue annual or sick leave. The Contractor may take a 45-minute lunch break during these hours. If the contractor chooses not to take the 45-minute lunch break, it cannot be invoiced as time worked.
Duties
- Provide examinations, diagnosis, prognoses, treatment planning, patient and consultation follow-up.
- Provide general dentistry services with Endodontic Emphasis consultative services as needed.
• Consult with other health care providers when a medical and/or developmental condition requires further investigation. - Prescribe appropriate medications when needed.
- Document treatment needs and treatment provided in the dental record of the patients in accordance with the Albuquerque Indian Dental Clinic (AIDC) programs policy and procedures.
- Provide endodontic services that include but are not limited to the professional and scientific work in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, injuries, and deformities of the teeth, the jaw, organs of the mouth, and other structures in the oral cavity and mastication system of patients of any age.
- Diagnose and treat oral pathology within the limits of their usual professional qualifications and within the standards of quality generally provided by licensed and practicing dentists in the United States. In providing these services, the contractor assumes the same responsibilities and provides the same consideration, advice, instruction, personal home care guidance, and quality of treatment to IHS beneficiaries, under the terms of this contract, as is provided to the general public.
Requirements
- Education: Be a graduate of an accredited dental school and possess a D.D.S or D.M.D degree. o Be a graduate of an accredited residency program in endodontic dentistry.
- Certifications: Be certified by the American Board of Dentistry. o Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- License: Shall be licensed in a state of the United States or its territories to practice endodontic dentistry.
