About this JobDivision: Security Department at Eastern Louisiana Mental Health Systems in Jackson, LA
The mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation, and consultation for adults. Programs provided include inpatient interventions, jail-based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long-term psychiatric are a coordination with the total system of care in Louisiana.
ELMHS is looking for Correctional Lieutenant Therapeutics who are passionate about supporting patient care while ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. In this unique role as a CLT, you will combine learned skills to help manage clients, de-escalate challenging situations, and promote safety and healing in a clinical setting.
Minimum QualificationsTwo years of experience in a forensic, behavioral, correctional, or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, clinical care or rehabilitation of offenders.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

Job Duties and Other InformationJob Duties:
- Incumbent will serve as the on-job training instructor to Corrections Guard-Therapeutic (CGT) and Corrections Guard-Therapeutic Trainee (CGTT) staff during the probationary period as well as supervise three (3) elite CGTs serving as assistants in the training process.
- Subject to 2a 4-hour callback. Respond to orders to report for duty during escapes or unusual occurrences.
- Provide performance planning and evaluation of probationary/permanent employees according to service rules and regulations.
- Participate in educational trainings that are mandatory for accreditation and licensure of the facility.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: The position may be filled as a Probational Appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a promotion (open to all statewide classified and agency-wide permanent status employees); or Current permanent status, classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointment if selected.
Compensation: Special Entrance Rate (SER) FULL-TIME: Corrections Lieutenant Therapeutic $21.27/hourly $1,701.60/Bi-weekly. Specialty Pays: Various premium pay also available for each hour worked for full-time employees.
