Duties

  • Assist with patient activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices.
  • Monitor and record vital signs accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks to ensure seamless documentation of patient data.
  • Support clinical staff by preparing examination rooms, handling medical supplies, and assisting during procedures such as catheter care or phlebotomy.
  • Provide specialized care for patients with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other memory impairments by implementing memory care techniques and ensuring a safe environment.
  • Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), especially in infectious disease or Level I Trauma Center settings.
  • Assist with patient transfers and positioning using equipment like Hoyer lifts or bed-side chairs to promote comfort and prevent injury.
  • Engage in patient service activities that promote well-being, including emotional support and ensuring a respectful atmosphere aligned with HIPAA privacy regulations.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Nursing Assistant or in similar caregiving roles within hospital medicine, long-term care, assisted living, or home & community care environments.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, or individuals with disabilities.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation.
  • Ability to perform vital signs measurement, medication administration under supervision, and basic clinical procedures like catheter care or phlebotomy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients requiring dementia or Alzheimer's care as well as those needing acute or sub-acute care services.
  • Certification in HIPAA compliance and infection control practices; additional certifications such as ICU experience or Level II trauma center experience are advantageous.
