Position Summary:

The Assistant Service Manager plays a key leadership role in the daily operations of the Kia service department. This position supports the Service Director in managing advisors, technicians, and support staff to ensure efficient workflow, exceptional customer experiences, and adherence to Kia brand standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who drives profitability, service excellence, and employee performance while maintaining strong relationships with both customers and manufacturer representatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in overseeing all aspects of the Kia service department, including service lane operations, repair order management, and customer satisfaction.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop service advisors and support staff to achieve performance goals and uphold dealership standards.
  • Monitor shop productivity, technician efficiency, and repair quality to ensure timely, accurate completion of work.
  • Partner with the Parts Department to coordinate vehicle repairs, minimize delays, and manage inventory needs.
  • Review and approve all repair orders, estimates, and warranty claims for accuracy and profitability.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with Kia corporate and field representatives to ensure compliance with manufacturer programs and warranty procedures.
  • Resolve escalated customer concerns quickly and professionally to maintain a high CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) rating.
  • Analyze service metrics and financial reports to identify areas of improvement and implement process enhancements.
  • Lead team meetings and training sessions to communicate performance goals, brand updates, and operational initiatives.
  • Ensure the service drive and shop environment are clean, organized, and compliant with safety and manufacturer requirements.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in automotive service operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Previous experience in a Kia, Hyundai, or similar import brand dealership preferred.
  • Strong understanding of dealership financials, warranty administration, and service performance metrics.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Proficiency in DMS systems (CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, or Dealertrack) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • ASE or Kia factory certifications preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
