Über

The Institute for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine at the University Hospital Dresden is seeking to appoint a Bioinformatician / Computational Biologist (m/f/d) at the earliest possible date. The position focuses on the analysis and integration of complex omics datasets and Omics Data Analysis and Multi-Omics Integration in Translational Researchin translational research projects with close links to clinical diagnostics.


  • Analysis, integration, and interpretation of high-dimensional omics datasets in translational research
  • Bioinformatic analysis of:
  • Bulk RNA sequencing
  • Single-cell and single-nucleus RNA sequencing
  • CITE-seq
  • ATAC-seq
  • NGS-based datasets
  • Metabolomics and proteomics data
  • Development, extension, and maintenance of robust and reproducible analysis pipelines, including quality control, normalization, annotation, and statistical analysis
  • Multi-omics integration (e.g. transcriptomics, epigenomics, metabolomics, proteomics) to derive biologically and clinically meaningful insights
  • Close collaboration with experimental scientists, clinicians, and diagnostic partners
  • Support in the methodological implementation of bioinformatic workflows in translational and, where applicable, clinically oriented settings
  • Contribution to scientific publications, third-party funding applications, and presentations

  • A completed university degree with a PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, Biostatistics, Molecular Medicine, or a related discipline
  • Proven hands-on experience in the analysis of omics datasets, in particular:
  • Bulk and single-cell RNA-seq
  • CITE-seq and/or ATAC-seq
  • Ideally metabolomics and/or proteomics
  • Excellent programming skills in R, including experience with relevant Bioconductor frameworks (e.g. Seurat, SingleCellExperiment, edgeR, DESeq2)
  • Good to very good knowledge of Python (e.g. Scanpy, Pandas, NumPy, SciPy)
  • Experience in developing, extending, and documenting reproducible analysis pipelines (e.g. using Snakemake, Nextflow, Git)
  • Solid understanding of statistical methods, data integration strategies, and visualization of complex datasets
  • A structured, independent working style combined with strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong interest in translational research and the application of bioinformatics methods in a medical context
