Townsen Memorial Hospital is looking for a Full Time Cath Lab Radiology Technologist for our hospital located in Houston, TX

The Cath Lab Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing specialized imaging and technical procedures within the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. This position assists cardiologists during diagnostic and interventional procedures,
ensures patient safety, maintains imaging equipment, and supports the cath lab team in delivering high-quality
cardiovascular care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, including angiography, electrophysiology, ablations, angioplasty, stent placement, and other procedures.
  • Prepare patients, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and respond to changes during procedures.
  • Operate and maintain imaging systems, including fluoroscopy units, hemodynamic monitoring systems, and related
  • radiologic equipment.
  • Prepare and/or administer contrast media and medications under physician direction and in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, imaging documentation, and procedure logs.
  • Maintain a sterile field and implement best practices while in the procedure room.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and allied health staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education programs.
  • Report all accidents promptly and correct minor safety hazards when possible.
  • Communicate with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Protect patient and family privacy rights and maintain confidentiality of patient records in accordance with HIPAA requirements and organizational policies.
  • Follow all safety rules and adhere to company standards of business conduct.
  • Perform other related tasks as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong understanding of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamic principles.
  • Proficiency in cardiac catheterization techniques, radiographic imaging, and vascular/interventional procedures.
  • Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain cath lab and radiologic equipment.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic radiographic principles, exposure factors, radiation safety, and relevant imaging protocols.
  • Familiarity with contrast administration, radiologic pharmacology basics, and sterile technique.
  • Skilled in-patient positioning, lifting/moving patients, and ensuring safe patient handling.
  • Ability to perform high-quality radiology procedures according to established protocols and timelines.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and applications, including electronic medical records (EMR), imaging software, and standard office software.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and patient-care skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, organized, and effective in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, sound clinical judgment, and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage workflow efficiently.
  • Ability to maintain self-composure, keep emotions in check, control anger and avoid aggressive behavior, even in difficult situations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or Associates Degree in Radiology Studies
  • Licensed by the Medical State Board of Texas as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT)
  • Certified by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Two (2) years of cath lab technologist experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified
  • EP Experience (Preferred)
