Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Dermatology Physician Assistant to join our specialized healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive dermatological care, assist in clinical procedures, and support patient education within a dynamic outpatient or hospital setting. This role offers an opportunity to work with advanced EMR systems, participate in clinical research, and deliver high-quality patient care across diverse dermatological conditions. Experience with esthetic laser treatments, dermal fillers, and skin procedures is highly desirable, along with a strong background in medical records management and patient assessment.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations including history taking, physical examinations, and vital signs assessment using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic and eClinicalWorks.
- Assist in dermatological procedures such as dermabrasion, dermal fillers, and laser treatments while maintaining aseptic techniques.
- Administer injections including botulinum toxin treatments and other dermatologic medications following proper protocols.
- Manage patient care plans involving diagnosis, treatment options, and discharge planning for outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations utilizing medical imaging and laboratory data collection to inform clinical decisions.
- Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Support clinical research initiatives related to dermatology and skin care innovations.
- Provide patient education on skin health, medication administration, and post-procedure care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hospital medicine, critical care units, and outpatient clinics for comprehensive patient management.
- Participate in triage and acute pain management for dermatological emergencies or complex cases requiring urgent attention.
Requirements
- Valid Physician Assistant license with current certification to practice in the state of employment.
- Proven experience with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks; telehealth experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of dermatologic procedures including dermabrasion, dermal fillers, Botox (botulinum toxin), esthetic laser treatments, and skin biopsies.
- Familiarity with medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10) for billing purposes.
- Experience administering injections, performing physical examinations, and managing patient assessments within outpatient or hospital environments.
- Background working in hospital settings such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers; ICU or emergency room experience preferred.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy related to dermatology, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to handle complex cases involving acute pain management, infectious disease care, or post-operative wound care.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients on treatment plans effectively while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Additional skills such as research participation, clinical trials experience, or expertise in aesthetic procedures are advantageous.
