ASRC Federal's Summer Technology Readiness Intern Development Experience (STRIDE) offers undergraduate college students the chance to apply their technological interests and knowledge to exciting real-world missions.   

We are seeking an Aerospace Engineering Intern to support our NASA customer in San Bernadino, CA.  This role is a temporary, onsite position.   

Work location:  Onsite in an office environment located in San Bernadino, CA.  Local intern candidates preferred.  Relocation assistance, housing, or stipends are not provided. 

Security: Must be a US Citizen to obtain a Secret clearance and successfully complete a government issued background investigation to access to customer site (must have lived continuously in the continental United States for the past three years)   

Program dates:  10-week summer internship, June 1 – August 6,

Hours:   32 hours per week   

Summary:  This position is for a summer intern who has an interest in rocket vehicle engineering.  This position would be responsible for supporting a variety of engineering analysis, document review, and other miscellaneous tasks under guidance of a senior engineer pertaining to assessment of rocket launch vehicles, components, and support systems utilizing both solid and liquid propellant propulsion systems.   

Education:   

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's program in Aerospace Engineering or Engineering, or in a related field.
  • Must be a current junior, senior or graduate student in college at the time of application.   

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Completed the cycle of introductory basic engineering and science courses in a specific discipline (introductory physics and chemistry, statics, mechanics, thermodynamics, thermofluid mechanics, linear and digital circuits, et cetera) 
  • Has school project or work experience with engineered systems, preferably related to propulsion, structural design and testing, avionics, or other applicable areas of knowledge 
  • Experience with writing and producing presentations of work performed and comfortable presenting to a technical audience 
  • Some experience with programming and use of engineering analysis tools (Matlab, Python/NumPy/SciPy) to reduce data and produce visualizations is preferred 

 Desired Qualifications:  

  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting engineering drawings per ASME Y14.1 and Y14.5 is desired 

Interns will work closely with dedicated mentors and managers, fostering meaningful connections within our company while exploring a range of technology disciplines. Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to contribute to research projects developed by our tech experts. While extensive work experience is not required, a commitment to learning and a genuine passion for emerging technological advancements are essential.
