Job Summary:
As a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) at Lawton Post Acute & Rehab, you will play a vital role in providing quality care to our residents by assisting with medication administration under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Your attention to detail, compassion, and dedication to resident well-being will contribute to maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Medication Administration:
- Administer medications accurately and according to physician orders, facility policies, and state regulations.
- Maintain proper documentation of medication administration, including dosage, time, and route.
- Medication Management:
- Assist in the ordering, receiving, storing, and disposal of medications in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Monitor medication supplies and report any discrepancies or shortages to the appropriate supervisor.
- Resident Care:
- Provide compassionate care to residents, ensuring their comfort, safety, and dignity at all times.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living as needed, while promoting independence and self-care whenever possible.
- Observation and Reporting:
- Observe residents for any changes in condition or adverse reactions to medications, promptly reporting concerns to the licensed nurse.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of resident observations and interactions.
- Team Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team, including nurses, physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to coordinate resident care plans.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to care planning discussions.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to infection control protocols, safety standards, and facility policies to maintain a clean and safe environment for residents and staff.
- Stay updated on current medication administration practices and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Medication Aide in the state of Oklahoma.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Prior experience in a long-term care or healthcare setting preferred.
