Senior Network Test Engineer Company: Inabia Solutions & Consulting
Location:  Onsite (5 days)
Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract
Position Overview
Inabia is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Network Tester with deep expertise across telephony systems, cellular/WiFi networks, and satellite communication environments. This onsite role demands a hands-on engineer who can own the test lifecycle end-to-end—designing enterprise-grade test environments, benchmarking, validating complex communication protocols, and delivering precise analysis that ensures the reliability of mission-critical networks. The ideal candidate brings strong technical leadership, advanced troubleshooting intuition, and the ability to translate test outcomes into actionable engineering insights.
Key Responsibilities
1. Advanced Cellular & WiFi Network Testing
  • Conduct comprehensive performance and functional testing across 4G, LTE, 5G NR, and WiFi (2.4/5 GHz, WiFi 6/6E) networks.
  • Validate eNB/gNB connectivity, handovers, roaming behaviors, and throughput stability under varying load conditions.
  • Analyze RF signal strength, SINR, RSSI, SNR, channel utilization, and interference patterns using industry-grade tools.
  • Benchmark performance across mobility scenarios, high-density environments, and mixed traffic types.
2. Telephony Protocol & VoIP Validation
  • Validate call flows, signaling, and control-plane behavior across SIP, RTP, RTCP, IMS, SS7, and VoIP systems.
  • Analyze codec behavior (G.711, G.722, Opus, AMR), MOS scoring, jitter buffers, and packet-loss tolerance thresholds.
  • Perform regression testing on dial plans, call routing, failover, QoS tagging, and multi-site telephony environments.
  • Ensure alignment with ITU-T, 3GPP, and IETF standards.
3. Satellite Link Analysis & Testing
  • Execute end-to-end testing of satellite uplink/downlink paths, modulations, link budgets, rain fade tolerance, and latency performance.
  • Evaluate communication reliability under varying atmospheric conditions and bandwidth constraints.
  • Validate ground station integration, antenna alignment parameters, and satellite modem behavior.
  • Use link simulators, channel emulators, and traffic generators for controlled analysis.
4. Enterprise-Grade Test Environment Ownership
  • Architect, configure, and maintain a fully instrumented test environment including routers, switches, firewalls, VoIP gateways, traffic generators, RF analyzers, satellite modems, and WiFi/cellular test benches.
  • Ensure environment readiness for functional, performance, regression, and stress tests across multiple domains.
  • Manage firmware updates, scenario modeling, lab automation, and continuous integration with engineering teams.
5. Deep-Dive Troubleshooting & Performance Benchmarking
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting across OSI layers using Wireshark, tcpdump, SolarWinds, iPerf, NetSpot, Nmap, Aircrack-NG, and similar tools.
  • Analyze throughput, latency, jitter, packet loss, QoS behaviors, and end-to-end application performance.
  • Correlate anomalies with protocol-level failures, RF constraints, routing issues, or misconfigurations.
  • Produce clear root-cause analysis and optimization recommendations for engineering leadership.
6. Reporting, Documentation & Cross-Team Collaboration
  • Develop detailed test plans, matrices, acceptance criteria, and traceability documentation.
  • Produce executive-ready test reports with charts, logs, KPIs, defect summaries, and engineering recommendations.
  • Collaborate with software, network, DevOps, and system engineering teams throughout design, integration, and release cycles.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional experience in network testing across telephony, cellular, WiFi, and satellite environments.
  • Mastery of network diagnostic tools: Wireshark, tcpdump, iPerf, SolarWinds, traffic generators, protocol analyzers, RF scanners, and monitoring dashboards.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • SIP/RTP/IMS/VoIP protocols
    • LTE/5G NR fundamentals
    • WiFi standards a/b/g/n/ac/ax)
    • Satellite communication architectures
    • TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, QoS, BGP/OSPF
  • Proven track record of designing and owning complex test environments.
Preferred Skills
  • Background in large-scale telecom or satellite network deployments.
  • Experience with RF test equipment, network automation frameworks, or CI/CD-driven testing.
  • Strong analytical ability, structured communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Bellevue, Washington, United States
