Position Summary

As a high-end Lead Carpenter at Proform, you are in your domain of working within a team of talented professionals, striving to deliver on the promise we make to each and every client. On a daily basis, you will be challenged to execute on details sketched and imagined by some of Seattle's brightest designers and architects.

The Lead Carpenter supervises carpenters and laborers, as well as performing hands-on carpentry and labor work. Reads and understands blueprints, schematics, building plans and specifications. Able to apply this information to build projects and to direct carpenters and laborers. Ensures all build components are in line with plans and specs. Ensures site is protected from unauthorized entrance, theft, safety and environmental hazards. Assists Superintendent with material take offs and orders. Anticipates and proactively identifies areas of potential concern or conflict and notifies the Superintendent immediately. Maintains a safe and organized worksite. Performs frame and finish carpentry, reviews and completes daily punch lists, and identifies needed supplies and safety equipment. This position is non-exempt from overtime (paid for overtime) and reports to the Superintendent.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and directs carpenters and laborers.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, building plans and specifications and communicates this information to carpenters and laborers to ensure the build is in line with specs.
  • Ensures all site employees and subcontractors uphold Proform's standards of excellence, professionalism and integrity.
  • Ensures site is protected from unauthorized entrance, theft, safety and environmental hazards. Protects the surrounding area and community from safety and environmental impacts.
  • Performs build tasks including, but not limited to, frame and finish carpentry.
  • Reviews and completes daily punch lists.
  • Maintains safety locker and signage on site.
  • Identifies needed supplies and safety equipment.
  • Maintains a clean, safe and organized work environment in compliance with federal, state, local and Proform requirements.
  • Communicates professionally and effectively with clients, vendors, subcontractors, inspectors, employees, neighbors and Proform staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • 3+ years of frame and finish carpentry experience in high-end residential construction.
  • High level of finished carpentry craftsmanship experience and understanding of advanced joinery techniques.
  • Deep understanding of the sequence of events on custom high-end residential construction projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics and work plans, and communicate this information effectively to others.
  • Professional and ethical demeanor.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to make decisions when needed.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • Intermediate math knowledge (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages).
  • Reliable personal transportation and an acceptable driving record.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building regulations, quality and safety standards.
  • Physically able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds individually and heavier loads with the help of others.
  • Willing and able to work at construction sites with inherent hazards such as energized tools and lines; slips, trips and falls; falling materials; elevated walking and working surfaces; materials handling; noise; inclement weather; uneven working and walking areas; pneumatic equipment; traffic; etc.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
