Controls Engineer
to fill an opening with a manufacturing company located in Hayward, CA
Requirements of the Controls Engineer
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in the automotive industry required
- 5+ years of leadership experience preferred
- 3-5 years' experience working with cross functional teams preferred
- Fluency in the English language is required
- Demonstrated record of driving results
- Strong problem solving, strategic thinking and analytical skills required
- Manage human and material resources to meet targets
- Able to relay technical information in a way your audience understands
- Aptitude to develop a High-Performance Team environment
- Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements
- Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits, working the hours necessary to perform the job
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, customers, and suppliers
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications and the ability to become proficient in any systems that we use (Concur, Kronos, etc.)
- Flexibility to support service activity both off-site and outside of normal working hours
- Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area

Responsibilities of the Controls Engineer
- Maintain and refactor legacy applications for data acquisition and control of automotive dynamometers
- Design and program new modules and applications utilizing LabVIEW
- Interface with custom engineering in developing testing applications with EV focus
- Creating custom CAN/LIN/FlexRay protocol gateways between MRE software platform and customer UUTs
- Create scripts in Vector CAPL and ICS Vehicle spy to simulate vehicle environment required for testing
- Proactively work during the quoting process to identify required equipment and support for new projects
- Interact with customers for requirements specifications
- Interact with customers for troubleshooting and debugging software, electrical, and mechanical problems
- Work in an office and facility environment
- Test stand equipment includes real-time data acquisition and control system, conditioning systems for coolant, fuel, oil and combustion air, dynamometers, PID controllers, throttle actuators and engine mounting hardware
- Assists in supporting culture and values (Integrity, Expertise, and Innovation)
- Performs other duties as assigned
