Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive psychiatric care, including medication management, patient assessments, and behavioral health interventions across diverse patient populations. Experience with telehealth, clinical research, and specialized treatments such as botulinum toxin therapy or dermal fillers is highly desirable. This role involves working in various settings including outpatient clinics, inpatient units, and assisted living facilities, with a focus on delivering exceptional patient-centered care while adhering to HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments utilizing EMR/EHR systems.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with mental health conditions, including acute pain management and behavioral health interventions.
- Prescribe and monitor medications, including psychopharmacology treatments, injections, and IV infusions.
- Manage complex cases involving geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal care, or patients with developmental disabilities.
- Perform procedures such as suturing, venipuncture, catheterization, spinal taps, and sterile processing when necessary.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for discharge planning, case management, and utilization review.
- Provide telehealth consultations utilizing telemedicine platforms to expand access to mental health services.
- Educate patients and families on health coaching topics like nutrition, memory care, Alzheimer's/dementia care, and post-acute care strategies.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards and CPT coding requirements.
- Participate in clinical research projects or specialty areas such as hospice & palliative medicine or occupational health as needed.
Qualifications
- Current Nurse Practitioner licensure with certification in psychiatry or behavioral health.
- Proven experience in psychiatric settings such as hospitals (Level I & II trauma centers), emergency rooms, ICU/CCU units, or outpatient clinics.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to internal medicine, neurology (e.g., spinal taps), cardiology (e.g., cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology (e.g., ophthalmology procedures), and other specialties listed above.
- Experience administering injections, IV infusions, catheter care, tube feeding management, ventilator support, or working with specialized populations like neonatal ventilator or pediatric patients is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of physiology knowledge for patient assessment and diagnostic evaluation.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance and infection control standards; experience with infection control protocols is preferred.
- Additional skills such as working with people with disabilities or developmental disabilities; familiarity with hospital medicine or post-acute care settings; experience in psychopharmacology or neurobehavioral treatments are considered assets.
