The Production Painter will be responsible to prepare Items for paint and other related tasks prior to applying paint to material handling equipment, Forklift trucks and various parts. Will also apply some assembly parts and decals to products after they are painted.
Essential Functions:
- Inspect Items to be painted, identify and correct defects in painted items.
- Prepare all areas for painting by applying body filler, sanding, grinding, and other activities in accordance with prescribed quality standards.
- Apply and remove masking tape and other protective materials as needed.
- Receive and understand detailed instructions and specifications concerning the application of paint and related tasks. Such instruction may be conveyed through blueprints, job cards, route sheets, process documentation, and other means verbal, written or other.
- Will assembly various parts, and decals to products after final paint.
- Operate paint equipment including air gun and airless paint sprayers, compressors, etc.
- Prepare paint for application, including mixing paint to meet specification. Requires use of measuring equipment, devices and gauges to insure proper viscosity.
- Assembly operations as required to complete product
- Inspect and adjust spray gun and related equipment to ensure proper operation. Take corrective action as needed.
- Inspect paint application for imperfections and quality appearance. Take correction action as needed.
- Order supplies such as paint, equipment, sand paper, paint, etc.
- Maintain and clean paint equipment including spray guns, paint filters, and others.
- Maintain various records, reports and paperwork.
- Observe and practice all safety precautions by following appropriate procedures and use of safety equipment. Wear specialized protective clothing such as mask and paint suit.
- Read and understand hazardous waste labels placards, and complete written portion of hazardous waste labels as required.
- Perform all duties within production schedule and in accordance with engineering, quality and production standards.
- Must be able to maintain position of a 5-10 lb., spray gun while painting in repetitive long strokes requiring movement of upper arm at the shoulder with rotation of the line possibly every four minutes.
- Must be able to wear an air supplied breathing hood often throughout entire shift on heavy production days.
Additional Functions:
- Responsible for meeting all safety requirements and policies and maintain a safe work environment
- Participate in the 5s program and maintain a neat, organized and safe work area
- Participate in continuous improvement activities and initiatives
- Show effective concern for the quality of all output and the needs, concerns and priorities of all customers" both internal and external to the company.
- Support company policies and demonstrate concern for the success for the business.
Basic Qualifications:
- High school education or equivalent.
- 1 to 3 years' experience in painting using a paint gun preferably pervious experience in painting automobiles or equipment in a production/manufacturing environment.
- Ability to use basic hand tools
- Must be able to wear an air supplied breathing hood often throughout entire shift on heavy production days.
Working knowledge and use of computers.
Must be available to work overtime
Must be authorized to work indefinitely in the US
Working Conditions:
The position is located in a factory production and or warehouse environment that require long periods of standing, walking and occasional squatting, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing up and down from forklifts, and using computer and various office equipment. The work environment may be exposed to the typical production warehouse environment which is described as follows:
May encounter loud noise from various machinery and equipment that may generate loud noise and vibration, varying temperatures (including heat during summer and from the operation of equipment) The incumbent may encounter oil, grease, paint, solvents and other potentially hazardous materials. The incumbent may also encounter dust, fumes, flying debris, and fast-moving machinery, such as forklift trucks when performing duties.
