Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Clinical Services Representative I in the Rutgers Health University Dental Associates (RHUDA) at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM).

Under general supervision, the Clinical Services Representative I carries out a variety of front desk services related to cash collections. Additionally, this individual serves as a receptionist, maintains appointment books, requests charts, posts payments, enters and updates patients' demographic and insurance information and collects copayments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Registers patients presenting for treatment at the Rutgers Health University Dental Associates. Enters all biographic and insurance information into the appropriate computer system. Checks patient identification as required by RSDM/RHUDA policies. Audits that patient data, such as address, is current.
  • Obtains a copy of patients' Medicaid/Medicaid HMO card each month, verifies and updates information as needed.
  • Ensures that the designated insurance copayment is collected before the patient is seen by the student.
  • Responsible for the collection and posting of patients' payments. Ensures that the patients' payments are recorded properly. Prepares computer receipts for patients.
  • Requests charts for patients of record who will be seen the next day.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible clerical experience required, of which one year must have been in a business setting involving cash collections.

Certifications/Licenses

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate, including proficiency in Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to those with at least three (3) years of prior dental front desk experience.
  • Associate's degree preferred but not required.
