We are currently looking for an Bistro Supervisorto work within our Independent Living community of The Wesleyan. The Bistro Supervisor oversees the daily operations of our Bistro Cafe which is a main dining venue within our Independent Living community. Proven food service supervisory experience within an independent living and/or senior living community along with excellent customer service skills and a passion for coordinating an exceptional dining experience for senior residents will be essential to your success as a Bistro Supervisor at The Wesleyan.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Follows standardized recipes, portioning and presentation standards.
  • Completes and utilizes daily production worksheets and waste log sheets.
  • Tastes completed meals to ensure food and meal quality.
  • Conducts daily meetings with Bistro team members.
  • Trains Bistro teammates in food preparation, operation of equipment, food safety and sanitation based on organizational and regulatory standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Establishes and maintains cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment, storage and work areas.
  • Ensure that Bistro team follows and completes work schedules as assigned.
  • Maintains inventory of food and non-food supplies to stay within established guidelines while assuring that necessary product is available when needed.
  • Makes all decisions regarding utilization of leftover food products staying within Corporate guidelines for such products.
  • Interfaces with representatives of Regulatory Agencies regarding food safety and sanitation in the Bistro.
  • Completes all daily, weekly or monthly reports as outlined in the corporate policies and procedures on a timely basis meeting all prescribed deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A minimum of a Culinary Arts Degree from a recognized Culinary School or 5 years of progressive food service management experience is required.
  • A current Food Handlers Certification is required.
  • Excellent customer service and guest experience skills.
  • Energetic, self-starter with little supervision required.
  • A motivated team player who cultivates a team environment.
  • Proficient in computer applications and point of sale (POS) systems.
  • A servant-minded approach to all aspects of the job.
  • A passion for working within a senior living community is a must
  • Alignment with and enthusiasm about The Wesleyan's culture and core values.
