Maintenance Mechanic Lead

Assist Maintenance Supervisor and/or Maintenance Manager in the direction and training of Maintenance mechanics for 10% to 25% of his time. The balance of time is spent performing normal maintenance duties.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Installs, operates, maintains, checks and troubleshoots 3 phase and single phase electrical equipment, also all types of A/C and D/C electrical equipment

· Installs, operates, maintains, checks, troubleshoots and repairs solid state, electronic and all types of mechanical equipment as directed

· Troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers(PLCs) and install programs and troubleshoots Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)

· Inspects machines, takes any required test, and completes "all" reports and paper work as required for company record.

· Machines parts using lathe and mill when necessary due to breakdown, or as directed by supervision.

· Reads wiring diagrams and makes proper installation of semi-complex electrical circuit, perform PM and repair work in accordance with A. I. B. and G. M. P. principals.

· Diagnoses and employs proper procedure of troubleshooting to determine when parts need replacement and when repairs are necessary.

· Dismantles, repairs, and re-assembles gearboxes, fans, conveyors, blowers, compressors, pumps, valves, drivers and all allied mechanical equipment when directed or when directly related to electrical trouble shooting.

· Dismantles, repairs, and re-assembles electric motors, relays, timers, and all allied electrical equipment.

· Oven combustion setup and safety devices troubleshooting and repairs

· Installs and repairs electrical conduit, cables, piping, tubing (including all necessary connections), controls, and grounding as directed.

· Performs necessary repairs as directed to dust and fume collectors

· Operates mobile lift truck and hoisting equipment when required to perform maintenance work. Must have forklift operator's license approved

· Performs hydraulic and pneumatic repair functions and performs necessary lubrication of production machines as directed

· Perform simple rigging when necessary for equipment moving and relocation.

· Helps maintain spare parts inventory for plant as directed by checking out parts from parts room, using parts ordering procedure, and restocking inventory.

· Helps maintain shop area and parts room clean and orderly.

· Train new personnel and less experienced employees as required

· Assist Maintenance Management in the enforcement of all company rules, rules, policies and procedures by bringing violations to the attention of management

· Maintains a positive and constructive work environment within the department as well with other departments and promotes teamwork

· Must adhere to and obey all plant safety rules and regulations and wear all personal protective equipment as directed.

· Participates in monthly departmental meetings

· Follow (LO/TO) all Safety procedures and Company Safety Policy. Use safe working practices and reports all hazardous conditions at all times.

· Must work various shifts and hours including holidays and weekends. Changes shifts and days off as necessary when directed.

· Comply with all Food Safety and Quality Programs

EDUACATION & EXPERIENCE

· High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required.Certified in Allen Bradley PLC Programming or equivalent preferred. 6 years of experience in Maintenance in a Manufacturing Plant required. Food/Beverage Manufacturing preferred. Previous leadership experience strongly preferred. Any equivalent combination of related education and / or experience may be considered for the above.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

· Functional Knowledge in electricity, welding, PLC, mechanical, etc.

· Ability to disassemble, repair and reassemble gear boxer, fans, conveyors, blowers, compressors, pumps, valves, furnaces, drives and all allied mechanical equipment when directed related to electrical troubleshooting

· Possess functional knowledge of lubricants for all types of machines and knowledge of dust and fume collectors

· Ability to install, programs and troubleshoots Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)

· Ability to install and repair electrical conduit cables, piping and tubing, including all necessary connections, controls and grounding as directed

· Possess functional working knowledge of industrial machinery, hydraulic systems, pneumatic system, air systems, and be able to read semi-complex diagrams and troubleshoot working systems

· Possess a Functional working knowledge of the following equipment:

o MIG/TIG welding equipment

o Arc welding equipment

o Gas and plasma cutting equipment

o Power tools such as drill presses, cut off saws, lathes, mills and portable table tools

· Electrical test equipment such as voltmeter, megger, ammeter, diode, SCR tester, ohmmeter, amp meter, etc.

· Must be able to read and understand the basic and semi-complex electrical and mechanical blueprints, and use simple shop math and possess knowledge of federal, state, local electrical codes

· Ability to read and make proper installations of complex electrical circuits from wiring diagrams as instructed

· Functional knowledge of oven combustion setup and safety devices troubleshooting and repairs

· Ability to install, operate, maintain, check and troubleshoot all types of AC and DC electrical and mechanical equipment

· Ability to troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers(PLCs)

· Ability to lift up 50 pounds.

· Strong communication skills, computer and good math skills

· Bilingual (Spanish / English) preferred
