Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Thrift Store Manager to lead our retail operations. The ideal candidate will oversee daily store activities, manage volunteer staff, ensure excellent customer service, and drive sales growth. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a passion for community engagement. The Thrift Store Manager will play a key role in maintaining inventory control, merchandising, and fostering a positive shopping environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise store volunteer staff, including training and evaluating performance
- Develop and implement sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets
- Oversee inventory management, including purchasing, stocking, and merchandising to optimize product presentation
- Manage cash handling procedures, POS systems, and cashiering operations with accuracy and integrity
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and safety standards
- Conduct regular employee orientation and ongoing training & development programs
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
- Coordinate marketing efforts to promote store events and community involvement
- Monitor store budget, perform retail math calculations, and manage expenses effectively
- Implement pricing strategies aligned with market trends and organizational goals
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and licensing requirements
- Utilize effective communication skills to foster teamwork and motivate staff toward achieving store objectives
Qualifications
- Proven management experience in retail or thrift store environments with supervising responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of retail sales, inventory control, merchandising, and POS systems
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Proficiency in negotiation, budgeting, bookkeeping, payroll administration, and retail math
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse community members
- Experience in recruiting, interviewing, employee orientation, training & development is preferred
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in stock management and store operations
- Effective communication skills including phone etiquette and customer service excellence
- Ability to handle cash accurately and perform cashiering duties confidently
- Demonstrated ability to manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Previous experience in marketing or promotional activities is advantageous
Requirements
- Time Commitment: Full Time, aligned with store hours which are subject to change. Shift hours below do not include open/closing tasks before opening or after closing (to be determined)
- Mon-Tues Off (Store Closed)
- Wed-Fri 1pm-8pm
- Sat-Sun 12pm-6pm
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen prior to hiring and as needed or required by law

Pay: $22.00 per hour
