We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Aide to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in various care settings, including home care, assisted living, and nursing homes. This role involves working closely with clients to enhance their quality of life through personalized care and support.
A core requirement of this role is the ability to work a rotating schedule that includes every other weekend.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide companionship and engage clients in meaningful activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
- Monitor and document vital signs, including blood pressure and heart rate, as well as any changes in the client's condition.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary restrictions and preferences, ensuring proper meal planning and cooking.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties, including cleaning and laundry.
- Assist with medication administration as per care plans while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide support for clients with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or autism through tailored care strategies.
- Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for transferring clients safely when required.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans that address the unique needs of each client.
Requirements
- Previous experience in caregiving or related fields such as home health, hospice care, or long-term care is preferred.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques and monitoring for changes in health status.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility challenges.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA standards in patient care.
- Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or memory-related conditions is a plus.
