About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Distinguished Machine Learning Engineer to join our dynamic team at Capital One Software. This remote position offers an exciting opportunity to lead the development and deployment of advanced machine learning systems that will shape the future of our data management solutions. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with product, technology, and design leaders to build innovative solutions that address complex business challenges. Your expertise will be instrumental in promoting a culture of engineering excellence, driving adoption of modern technologies, and mentoring the next generation of tech talent. You will operate as a trusted advisor across the enterprise, influencing key stakeholders and shaping the strategic direction of our machine learning initiatives. This role is ideal for someone passionate about leveraging AI and data-driven solutions to create impactful products and foster a forward-thinking engineering environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in Software Engineering
- At least 5 years of experience in Machine Learning Systems and Infrastructure
- Proficiency in Python, Java, Go, and SQL
- Experience deploying machine learning models in production environments at scale
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and data tools such as Kafka, Airflow, Spark, Glue, Kinesis
- Experience with Databricks or Snowflake
- Knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and evaluation
- Experience with LLM Ops tooling, including model versioning, deployment, cost optimization, and latency reduction
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders across organizational levels
- Proven leadership in mentoring and developing technical talent

- Build awareness and promote the adoption of modern machine learning and data technologies across the organization
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address complex business challenges, delivering impactful solutions for customers and internal stakeholders
- Leverage expertise to foster an inclusive environment where diverse ideas are valued and championed
- Promote engineering best practices, including code reuse, innersource solutions, and scalable architecture design
- Effectively communicate technical concepts and influence decision-making at all organizational levels
- Operate as a trusted advisor for specific technology domains, shaping use cases and implementation strategies
- Lead talent development initiatives by mentoring internal teams and actively recruiting external experts to strengthen the technical workforce
