Equine Mobile Veterinary Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist Dr. Guardia in providing exceptional care to horses while ensuring the smooth operation of the mobile veterinary practice. We are seeking a self-motivated, intelligent, candidate with exceptional attention to detail and eagerness to learn. Veterinary technician license not required.

Duties
- Assist veterinarian during examinations and procedures
- Handle, lunge, jog, and restrain horses during examinations and treatments
- Perform laboratory tests and procedures under the supervision of veterinarian
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of veterinary vehicle and equipment
- Drive veterinary vehicle to and from all appointments

• Monitor and record vital signs of animals
• Administer medications as directed by veterinarian

Qualifications

• Proficiency in handling, lunging, and retraining horses is required. No exceptions.

• Valid Texas driver's license required with clean driving record

• Must pass a drug screen and background check

-Experience as an equine veterinary assistant is not required, but is beneficial
- Knowledge of horse restraint techniques
- Familiarity with horse care such as grooming, hoof care, feeding, and safety practices
- Understanding of veterinary care practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail

-Desire to work hard and learn

-Ability to be trained in specifics for this practice, even if already skilled in other ways of handling/caring for horses.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $22.00 per hour
