Disc Cell Operator II

Job Summary:

Operator 2 performs production processes and operates various machines including soak, punch, Double Disc Rough, Centerless Grind, Core Drill, CNC Slice, DCM, SPLAP, STC, and MWS. Operator 2 works more independently than an operator 1 and assists with achieving quality tolerances. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

Required: 

• Operate without performing the setup of Double Disc, Centerless Grind, Core Drill, and CNC Slice. 
• Cycling of the MWS and STC operations 
• Assist Machinists with machine setup and adjustments. 
• Ensure parts meet quality specifications. 
• Achieve tolerances of critical dimensions with supervisor assistance. 
• Follow all safety, quality, and production standards. 
• Assist in training Operator 1 employees. 
• Maintain autonomous maintenance schedule. 
• Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions. 

 Desired additional operations: 

• Centerless Grind with setup and program editing or Double Disc Finish with setup and program editing 
• Core Drill with performing setup and program editing 
• CNC Slice with performing setup and program editing

Work Environment and Physical Demands: 

• Works in a clean, well-lit production environment; requires protective footwear and eyewear.  
• Regularly stands on cement floors with rubber mats; may involve sitting, stooping, bending, and walking.  
• Capable of lifting and transporting an average weight of 10 lbs., up to a maximum of 40 lbs.  
• Requires manual dexterity and near visual acuity.  
• Ability to understand verbal instructions and comply with quality and safety regulations.

Qualifications: 

• High school diploma or equivalent. 
• 1-2 years of manufacturing experience. 
• Familiarity with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers). 
• Ability to read and interpret part prints. 
• Basic troubleshooting skills.
