POSITION SUMMARY:
Based in our Selma, NC offices, the Resource Development Manager is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and securing financial support for our Boys & Girls Clubs. While the Manager, in collaboration with the Community Engagement Assistant, plays a central role in all resource development activities, they must be particularly focused on major gifts and grants. The Manager reports to the vice president of resource development and marketing and participates as an active member of the RDM team's efforts to raise funds in the Triangle.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assist the unit board and other development volunteers in their efforts to attract and retain donors and increase RD revenue.
· Engage with current donors to retain them and grow their donations. Engage with past donors to reactivate them. Engage with prospective donors to grow the donor base and take advantage of the region's tremendous economic growth.
· Collaborate constantly with the RD team to plan, implement and improve fundraising strategies.
· Play a central role in the success of the annual campaign.
· Play a strong supporting role to the Community Engagement Assistant on fundraising events.
· Research and analyze corporate, individual, foundation and government donors and recommend solicitation and retention strategies.
· Prepare and present proposals for financial support to prospective donors.
· Oversee the fundraising aspects of special events, including soliciting and securing gifts and sponsorships
· Support fundraising initiatives as directed by the VP or CEO, such as major gifts, planned giving or capital funds development.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
· Excellent communications skills and demonstrated ability to connect with and win the trust of colleagues and stakeholders.
· Demonstrated customer service skills to include responsiveness, follow-up and dedication to customer satisfaction.
· Strong familiarity with Johnston County, NC is preferred.
· Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
· A minimum of three years' work experience in non-profit fundraising.
· Knowledge of fundraising techniques and sources of funding for non-profit organizations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a public-facing position requiring regular travel to meet with constituents at varied locations, primarily in Johnston County but periodically in the larger Triangle area. The Manager shares an office with the Community Engagement Assistant in Selma, NC. The Manager is expected to attend weekly staff meetings at the Wake County headquarters. The position requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, attend meetings and communicate effectively, and to contribute to the setup of event venues for fundraising or community engagement including evening and weekend hours. The position requires the ability to lift, carry and manipulate presentation and tabling materials typically weighing up to 40 pounds.
