Senior Estimator

Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Estimator to join a leader in the Washington, DC construction industry, and named 2025 Business of the Year, for its construction team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in preparing accurate and competitive project estimates, supporting project planning, and ensuring profitable project execution. This position requires a deep understanding of construction estimating processes, strong negotiation skills, and extensive experience with various estimating software tools. The Senior Estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to develop comprehensive bids that align with project scope, budget, and schedule. Salary is negotiable.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed construction estimates for a variety of projects, including commercial, industrial, and infrastructure developments.
• Review and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract documents to accurately assess project requirements.
• Base building experience/interior project experience
• Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to prepare precise cost analyses and bid proposals.
• Conduct negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
• Perform cost control analysis throughout the project lifecycle to ensure adherence to budgets.
• Assist in the development of project schedules and resource planning in coordination with project management teams.
• Support contract negotiations and review contractual terms related to pricing, scope, and risk management.
• Collaborate with construction management teams to evaluate site conditions and incorporate construction site experience into estimates.
• Provide mentorship to junior estimators and contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating processes.

Requirements

• Proven experience in construction estimating with a strong background in commercial or heavy civil projects.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam, HeavyBid, and other relevant estimating software tools.
• Extensive knowledge of construction estimating techniques, cost control measures, and pricing strategies.
• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Construction site experience is highly desirable for accurate scope assessment.
• Familiarity with construction management principles, contracts, and project management practices.
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in all estimates.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously. Qualifications

• Four-year degree or related experience in Construction Management or similar field and at least 5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Prior demonstrated experience with estimating base building, commercial/interior
• Ability to navigate specifications and plans
• Proficiency in reviewing RFIs/RFPs
• Ability to estimate multiple projects simultaneously

Pay: $120, $150,000.00 per year
