SUMMARY

The position is responsible for the day to day supervision of assigned shift finished goods production personnel. The Production Supervisor will plan and assign work, implement policies and procedures, and recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. The position will ensure that quality wallcoverings are safely manufactured on schedule with low waste.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise/ Lead day to day Gravure operations.
  • Perform daily start-up meeting to review/ cover company activities, past day results, quality defects and safety concerns.
  • Coordinate Production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules and resolving problems.
  • Provides hands on support to all floor activities, can and may have to fill in for breaks/ lunches to help maintain efficiency.
  • Communicates job expectations; plans, monitors, and appraises job results; coaches, counsels, and disciplines employees; enforces and upholds systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Provides feedback to all Gravure personnel on daily results and drives continuous improvement activities to improve these results.
  • Maintains staff by co-interviewing, selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities
  • Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments
  • Work with QC Personnel to maintains quality service by enforcing organization standards and specifications and performing monthly audits
  • Ensures optimal operation of equipment by calling for repairs; assisting in the evaluation of new equipment and techniques
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures. Participates and supports Safety Committee. Commits to/is trained in safe practices such as reasonable suspicion testing and accident investigation/analysis.
  • Conducts performance appraisals, approves timecards, tracks attendance points, submits pay changes, and completes and presents all progressive discipline to direct reports
  • Resolves personnel problems through active listening, investigating issues, identifying solutions, collaborating with Manager and HR, and recommending actions
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and participating in continuing education related to operational excellence

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Approximately 20 to 25 hourly production employees

OTHER: Professional disposition, attention to detail, organization skills, demonstrates a high commitment to quality and safety, experienced in budgeting, promotes teamwork.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience in the printing or packaging industries highly preferred
  • 5-7 years in a Lean manufacturing environment with supervisory experience
  • Ability to motivate groups of employees to find better ways of completing tasks and encouraging their participation in Kaizen events; gifted in being an agent of change
  • Computer skills to fulfill duties and responsibilities, MS Office and project management skills are required
