Lloyd Construction is seeking a creative, analytical, and organized individual to join our team as a Construction Project Engineer. At Lloyd Construction Company, the Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the Project Manager and Superintendent in ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and on schedule. This role involves coordinating between the Project Manager, Superintendent, Design Team, and Owner, while managing all project documentation. The Project Engineer also plays a vital role in facilitating communication across all stakeholders, ensuring that issues are promptly addressed and resolved. Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate records and logs, preparing reports, and assisting in the creation of project schedules and budgets. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.
Salary rate for this position will be based on experience and not necessarily reflected based on indeed salary range.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Design & Coordination:
- Support the Project Manager and Superintendent in ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and on schedule
- Facilitate communication and coordination between the Project Manager, Superintendent, Design Team, and Owner.
- Ensure a thorough understanding of project plans and specifications, addressing any questions from field personnel.
- Familiarity with design specifications and if applicable, owner specific specifications.
- Understand structural engineering fundamentals, including mechanics of materials, structural analysis, and structural design methodologies.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes, standards, and regulations such as the International Building Code (IBC), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) standards, and local building regulations.
- Attend various meetings, including subcontractor coordination and Owner – Architect – Contractor (OAC) meetings, and assist in recording and distributing meeting minutes.
- Oversee material procurement, tracking, and timely delivery of long-lead items.
Project budget and schedule:
- Assist the Project Manager/Superintendent in creating and distributing the project schedule.
- Understand the design cost estimate, change management and scopes of work.
- Support the Project Manager in preparing and overseeing the project budget, including general conditions, subcontractor costs and other project related activities that could impact the overall project budget.
- Monitor project progress and report any deviations from the plan.
Documentation
- Manage all project documentation, including plans, specifications, Request for Information (RFIs), submittals, Architect Supplemental Instructions (ASIs), logs, meeting minutes, proposal requests, inspections and project closeout documents.
- As-Builts: Keep the construction drawings up to date by red lining drawings when RFIs, ASIs, and PRs are issued and approved.
- Assist Project Manager in change order management, creation, negotiation between Project Manager and Owner.
- Create and distribute meeting minutes, documenting decisions, pertinent discussions and all issues impacting the project.
- Support the project team with site safety documentation and coordination.
- Assist in obtaining all project closeout material.
- Help the project team with closeout activities including creation, distribution and tracking of punch list items.
- Maintain understanding of all project related documents.
- Ensure accurate records and logs.
Communication:
- Support the project team in maintaining alignment and positive working relationships among Subcontractors, the Owner, and the Architect/Engineer.
- Communicate proactively with all parties, addressing their needs while balancing service excellence with business interests.
- Support and collaborate with internal and external project team members.
- Ensure Management is informed as to the progress of the project, its financial status and current relations with the Owner-Architect.
- Assist the Project Manager in ensuring the project team understands their roles, responsibilities, and assigned project tasks.
- Distribute any type of reports from the owner or design team such as field observation reports to notify subcontractors of deficiencies.
- Report any on-site emergencies, safety concerns, or critical issues promptly to the Superintendent and Project Manager.
Qualification Requirements
- Construction and Engineering Expertise: In-depth knowledge of construction and engineering processes, industry practices, and advanced construction techniques. Certification as an Associate Estimating Professional is a minimum requirement.
- Technical Proficiency: Effective computer skills, including proficient use of Word, Excel, Outlook, Procore, Bluebeam, Excel estimating software, and cloud-based take-off software.
- Communication Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Excellent presentation skills.
- Work Ethic and Passion: Strong work ethic and dedication to timely tasks. Passionate about construction, process improvement, and professional development.
- Management and Organizational Skills: Thorough in all aspects of the position. Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Team and Client Focus: Works well in a team environment. Commitment to excellent client service.
- Minimal travel is needed.
- Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance.
- Pass a drug screen
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field such as Architecture or Architectural Engineering OR 7 years of commercial construction or industrial construction project management experience.
- ProCore Certification and experience
- Proficient in both verbal and written communications.
- Computer literate and proficient in Excel, Word, Procore, Microsoft Project.
Physical Demands
- May involve periods of standing.
- Regularly required to work with a computer
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, the ability to adjust focus, and color vision.
