Dance Instructor

Melody Lane Dance Music & Drama Academy – Yakima, WA
1–5 hours per week

Melody Lane Dance Music & Drama Academy is seeking a warm, energetic instructor who loves working with young children. Our programs focus on creating a joyful, encouraging environment for performers ages 2–7. We are looking for someone who brings enthusiasm, professionalism, and a genuine passion for helping kids learn and grow.

Position Details

• Part-time: 1–5 hours per week
• Consistent Evening availability required
• Ideal for someone with strong experience working with young children
• Background in dance is preferred, but attitude, energy, and teachability are just as important
• This position begins with shadowing for the remainder of the current trimester.
• Independent teaching begins in February with a set class schedule.

What You'll Do

• Teach fun, structured classes in creative movement, beginning ballet, tap, and introductory jazz (experience in all styles not required).
• Follow Melody Lane's curriculum and teaching expectations.
• Create a warm and welcoming class atmosphere that supports learning through play and repetition.
• Build positive relationships with students and families.
• Communicate with leadership and follow studio guidelines and safety standards.
• Lead age-appropriate activities that support gross motor skills, musicality, coordination, and confidence.

What We're Looking For

• Experience working with children ages 2–7 (required).
• Previous dance training or teaching experience preferred.
• High energy, reliability, and a positive attitude.
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow curriculum.
• Team-player mindset.
