Weekend Receptionist – Dog & Cat Grooming Salon

Overview:

Spawlash Pet Salon is looking for an upbeat, reliable Weekend Receptionist to be the face of our business—the first smile that greets every client walking through our doors. You'll work every Saturday and Sunday, 9 AM – 5 PM, handling everything from check-ins and phone calls to scheduling grooms, helping customers find the perfect products in our retail area, and keeping our self-wash stations sparkling. Pet industry experience is a plus, but we're happy to train the right person—what matters most is a positive attitude, the ability to stay calm when things get busy, and a genuine love for animals.

What You'll Do:

• Be the welcoming face of Spawlash—greet every client with a smile and create a warm first impression
• Answer phones, return voicemails, and respond to inquiries with excellent customer service
• Check clients in and out, process payments, and schedule future appointments
• Learn our booking system and master the art of scheduling grooms—matching the right dog (or cat) to the right groomer based on size, breed, coat type, behavior notes, and groomer preferences
• Engage with clients browsing our retail area or waiting for their pets—ask about their needs, recommend products, and help them find solutions for their furry friends
• Direct clients to our self-wash stations and clean/sanitize tubs after each use
• Keep the front desk, reception area, and retail displays tidy and organized
• Handle the occasional challenging situation with professionalism and calm assertiveness

Who You Are:

• Available to work every Saturday and Sunday (this is non-negotiable, but we are flexible and supportive of planned time off)
• A natural multitasker who stays cool under pressure
• Friendly, personable, and comfortable striking up conversations with clients
• Confident enough to recommend products and enforce policies when needed
• Detail-oriented—you won't forget to check vaccination records or miss a grooming note
• A team player who leaves drama at the door (seriously, we're building a positive, supportive workplace and that's non-negotiable too)

Nice to Have (extra credit - but not required):

• Experience in the pet industry, grooming salons, or veterinary offices
• Familiarity with Daysmart or similar appointment booking software
• Retail sales or inventory management experience
• Bi-lingual English and Spanish speaking abilities
