The Radiology Tech/Interventional Specialist at Southern Kentucky Vascular is responsible for supporting a variety of advanced vascular and interventional procedures. This role combines expertise in diagnostic imaging with specialized interventional skills to assist physicians in delivering minimally invasive vascular treatments. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of vascular anatomy, imaging protocols, and the ability to provide exceptional patient care.
This is a Full-Time position.
\*\*Key Responsibilities:\*\*
- \*\*Interventional Procedures:\*\* Assist in the preparation, conduct, and follow-up of vascular procedures, including angioplasty, stenting, embolization, and thrombolysis.
- \*\*Imaging Support:\*\* Perform real-time imaging during interventional procedures using fluoroscopy, ultrasound, and other advanced imaging modalities to guide the physician.
- \*\*Patient Preparation:\*\* Prepare patients for interventional procedures, including explaining the process, obtaining informed consent, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- \*\*Equipment Operation and Maintenance:\*\* Operate and maintain a variety of interventional radiology equipment, including C-arms, ultrasound devices, and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) systems. Ensure all equipment is in optimal working condition.
- \*\*Radiation Safety:\*\* Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols to protect patients and staff, including proper use of shielding, monitoring devices, and adherence to ALARA principles.
- \*\*Sterile Technique:\*\* Assist in maintaining a sterile field during procedures, including setting up sterile trays, passing instruments, and ensuring a sterile environment.
- \*\*Collaboration:\*\* Work closely with vascular surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare team members to provide integrated care during interventional procedures.
- \*\*Quality Assurance:\*\* Participate in quality assurance and control activities, including regular equipment checks, procedure reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- \*\*Professional Development:\*\* Engage in ongoing education and training to stay current with advances in interventional radiology and vascular techniques.
\*\*Qualifications:\*\*
- \*\*Education:\*\* Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology, Interventional Radiology, or a related field.
- \*\*Licensure:\*\* Current state license as a Radiologic Technologist or Interventional Technologist (as required by state law).
- \*\*Certification:\*\* ARRT certification in Radiography; additional certification in Vascular-Interventional Radiography or Interventional Cardiology is highly desirable.
- \*\*Experience:\*\* Minimum of 1 years of experience in a radiology or interventional setting, with specific experience in vascular procedures strongly preferred.
\*\*Skills:\*\*
- Expertise in operating interventional radiology equipment and conducting complex vascular procedures.
- In-depth understanding of vascular anatomy, pathophysiology, and interventional techniques.
- Excellent patient care skills, with the ability to manage patients throughout the interventional process.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, essential for collaborating in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.
\*\*Physical Requirements:\*\*
- Ability to lift and assist in positioning patients as necessary.
- Standing for long periods during procedures.
- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate complex interventional equipment.
\*\*Work Environment:\*\*
- Exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and ionizing radiation.
- Must adhere to strict infection control and radiation safety standards.
- Work is performed in a sterile, outpatient vascular procedure center environment.
