Position Overview:

Support the Quality Team through effective supplier relations to ensure customer satisfaction and compliance to business, customer, and regulatory requirements. Apply process improvement methodologies and Quality Assurance tools to improve supplier performance, customer service, quality, cycle, and delivery performance within an AS9100/ISO9001 certified Quality Management System (QMS). Support direct contact with some of the largest customers and suppliers. This position will report to the Quality Assurance Manager.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Drive effective corrective actions with suppliers through root cause analysis to solve customer issues.
  • Communicate directly with key customers to solve problems and drive effective solutions to completion.
  • First Article & PPAP Reviews and Submissions.
  • Generate drawings from CAD files via SolidWorks.
  • Setup and maintain the optical sorting machine (mechanical setup, programming, preventative maintenance and optimization).
  • Assist with establishing and facilitating Quality Policies and Procedures Training for personnel (i.e., training material and schedules).
  • Develop and drive process consistency to ensure compliance with Customer requirements.
  • Execute key Customer Improvement projects to reduce defects, cycle time, and improve fulfillment.
  • Drive Quality improvements utilizing applicable Quality and Site metrics.
  • Lead non-conforming material, customer complaints, and Corrective/Preventive Action processes.
  • Prepare sound responses to Customer-issued Corrective Actions.
  • Provide technical support to the Sales team.

Key Skills / Core Competencies:

  • Competent at interpreting engineering drawings/specifications, and manufacturing process evaluation.
  • Working knowledge of automotive processes (APQP, PPAP, Control Plans, FMEA, IMDS).
  • Familiar with fastener and plating standards (ISO, ASME, ASTM, DIN etc.)
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Working knowledge of quality tools, concepts, and methodologies
  • Ability to identify and implement Best Practices as well as continuous improvement projects
  • Demonstrated team and empowerment skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel (5-10%) as needed

Desired Skills:

  • Previous Global Company Experience
  • Statistics training & experience
  • Supply Chain Management experience
  • ISO9001 and AS9100 auditor experience
  • Working knowledge, and application, of RoHS/CE/REACH/WEEE/ANSI/ASTM and other relevant regulations
  • Proven track record of the highest integrity level (reference check required)
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, CPG considered an asset
  • Familiarity with hardware manufacturing considered an asset
  • Familiarity with Automotive and Military Industries considered an asset
  • Bilingual Mandarin or Spanish considered an asset

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • 5 years' experience in quality or related experience in Mechanical discipline
  • Quality Certification (ASQ) preferred (not required)
