This position is being filled as a replacement for a departing employee.
Salary Range: $60,000 – $70,000 per year.
Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations for their client group, ensuring the accuracy of financial data, and supporting management in strategic financial planning and analysis. The incumbent will foster a collaborative and productive team environment.
Key Functions & Duties:
- Participate in month-end close activities including preparation of journal entries, analysis of variances, reconciliation of accounts and other duties in a timely manner.
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger.
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records and reports.
- Contribute to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in
- Compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Conduct financial analysis to support month end reporting.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports and filings as required.
- Liaise with external auditors during annual audits.
- Utilize accounting software Excel to streamline and optimize accounting processes.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to management and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other departments to support overall business objectives.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience.
- Post Secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency with accounting software, particularly Jonas is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience in the waste management or construction industry is considered an asset.
- CPA designation is considered an asset.
