Job Description:
On behalf of our client, Affinity is seeking a Manager, Data & Analytics (Decision Sciences) to drive insights and support strategic business decisions. Reporting to the Director of Business Intelligence, this role will lead in depth quantitative and qualitative analyses across diverse data sources to address key business challenges and deliver actionable recommendations. You will partner closely with cross functional teams, including C level leaders, to identify opportunities that improve operational efficiency and drive revenue growth. The ideal candidate is an experienced, hands-on analytics leader from a high growth environment who can own the end-to-end analytics process, from deep analysis to clear, compelling communication that drives meaningful change.
Responsibilities:
- Become the subject matter expert around our sales, call, finance, and marketing data
- Analyze and query raw data using SQL from our data warehouse and databases
- Use advanced analytical frameworks and statistical techniques to explore patterns in the data, such as correlation, regression, clustering etc.
- Design and build rigorous experiments to drive data-informed decisions for our product, marketing, and account teams
- Define, train, and scale machine learning models in partnership with Data Science to deliver predictions and answers to key business questions
- Build dashboards to tell a data story through charts and visualizations
- Bring insights to life through presentations to key stakeholders and guide them to action via concrete, data-driven recommendations
- Collaborate with business department stakeholders to understand information needs and define deliverables
- Partner with Engineering to improve data infrastructure and quality, as well as drive data governance and data literacy initiatives
- Be the voice of the business on a highly collaborative, high performing analytics team, provide mentorship to other junior analysts
Qualifications:
- 7+ years working in a cross-functional analytics/data science role
- Strong analytical skills and mindset, able to clearly explain your methodology to a non-technical audience.
- Have a business first approach; you care about the business impact of your technical work.
- Proficiency with BI/reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau (preference given to prior experience with Qlik).
- Proven history leveraging econometric, data mining, and statistical techniques in business settings to deliver insights. Prior experience designing, launching, or working with production data science and machine learning models is a huge plus.
- Expert SQL (Redshift, PostgreSQL) skills. Knowledge of Python is a plus but not required.
- Experience with project management tools (like JIRA), documentation tools (like Confluence), and data management/catalog tools (like dbt)
- Degree in a quantitative field such as analytics, data science, statistics, economics, applied math, operations research or engineering (advanced degrees preferred)
- Knowledge of digital marketing, call center, and Salesforce/CRM data is a plus
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, proven track record of building strong relationships
- Grit, accountability, and ownership- you're willing to go the extra mile with a strong work ethic
- Strong business acumen with the ability to successfully navigate varied departmental operating needs as well as influence senior leaders within a complex business environment
- Self-directed and resourceful, can think critically, troubleshoot and solve complex problems in a fast-paced, data-driven, metrics-oriented environment
- High attention to detail while handling multiple, simultaneous projects under deadline pressure
