Our Richmond, Virginia facility is looking for a diligent Receiving Clerk to manage the inflow of goods. This critical role ensures that all incoming shipments are accurately documented, inspected, and processed efficiently into our warehouse system. You will be the first point of contact for many inbound logistics activities, playing a key part in maintaining inventory accuracy and operational flow. A strong emphasis is placed on safety; all team members must follow strict safety protocols and utilize necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This position requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to perform some physical tasks, including Lifting. Experience in a warehouse or distribution environment is highly valued.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and unload incoming freight from trucks.
- Verify packing slips and purchase orders against received goods for accuracy and completeness.
- Inspect received items for damage, shortages, or discrepancies.
- Document all received items into the warehouse management system (WMS) promptly and accurately.
- Tag and prepare items for storage or further processing.
- Communicate any receiving discrepancies or issues to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock checks as needed.
- Operate pallet jacks and other basic material handling equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a receiving, warehouse, or logistics role is preferred.
- Proficiency in data entry and basic computer skills.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
- Ability to read and understand shipping documents and invoices.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring physical exertion, including occasional Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Understanding of warehouse safety best practices and the importance of PPE.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
