Overview
As a family-owned, traditional diner we are looking for cooks who are responsible for delivering food that is not only delicious but makes people feel at home. A successful cook must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and collaborate well with the front-of-house staff. Cooks are also responsible for preparing ingredients, processing customer orders, producing meals, keeping the kitchen workspace clean to follow health and safety guidelines, and washing dishes. Cooks will also follow recipes consistently, make adjustments based on customer requests, assist with bussing tables, and make an attractive presentation for each meal.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to established recipes and dietary guidelines.
- Assist in meal preparation for special events, catering functions, and daily service.
- Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety regulations and standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area, including proper storage of ingredients.
- Utilize various kitchen equipment and tools, including knives, to ensure efficient food preparation.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering supplies as needed.
Experience
- Previous experience in a kitchen setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
- Proficiency in meal preparation techniques and use of kitchen equipment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being able to take initiative when needed.
- Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude towards helping others in the kitchen.
