The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for servicing assigned areas in accordance with current federal, state and local standards governing the facility. Willing to perform routine, repetitive tasks to ensure that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe and comfortable manner.

STANDARD REQUIREMENTS

• Maintenance Assistant is knowledgeable of resident rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment
• Supports and cooperates with specific procedures and programs for:
• Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs
• Confidentiality of all data including resident, employee and operations data
• Quality Improvement and compliance with all regulatory requirements
• Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal discriminatory behavior
• Maintenance Assistant supports and participates in common teamwork:
• Cooperates and works together with all co-workers
• Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations
• Maintenance Assistant follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residents regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns
• Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned
• Able to drive the bus on Tuesdays and Thursdays for resident doctor appointments

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

• Maintenance Assistant assembles materials and supplies from the supply room and transports them to the work area.
• Maintains apartments: kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living room.
• Routinely checks work order list for possible changes in assignment.
• Keep work areas free of hazardous conditions, spills, excess carts, baskets, supplies, equipment, etc.
• Maintenance Assistant follows all safety procedures and guidelines as outlined by facility and the Director of Maintenance.
• Maintain dignity and respect for residents' personal and property rights.
• Able to drive the bus on Tuesdays and Thursdays for resident doctor appointments

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE.

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen, DOT physical, have a valid driver's license and a clear driving record.
