An industrial automation project manager leads projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are on schedule, within budget, and meet quality standards. They oversee project scope, manage budgets and timelines, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure compliance with regulations. Key skills include leadership, knowledge of automation technologies like PLCs/SCADA, and proficiency with project management tools.
Reporting to the Shop Supervisors and Engineering Manager, the Controls and Automation Project Manager will provide leadership and coordination of electrical/mechanical manufacturing of the project.
Responsibilities
- Project planning and execution: Lead the entire project lifecycle, from initial planning and scope definition to execution and closure.
- Team and stakeholder management: Manage and motivate project teams, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
- Budget and timeline management: Allocate resources, manage project budgets, and develop detailed schedules to ensure on-time delivery.
- Quality and compliance: Ensure projects adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and quality benchmarks.
Required skills and qualifications
- Leadership and management: Strong ability to lead teams, manage clients, and provide technical direction.
- Technical knowledge: Proficiency in automation technologies, such as PLCs, SCADA systems, and robotics.
- Project management: Experience with project management tools (MS Project, Planner)
- Problem-solving: Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills for updates to stakeholders and collaboration with various teams.
· Travel:
· Expectation of travel up to 30% of time could be anticipated, based on project needs at that time.
Qualifications:
· Higher Engineering education or the equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
· Controls, automation, and instrumentation understanding.
· Control panel building experience
· Computer skills needed in MS Office, Auto-Cad, Solid-works, an understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical controls and integration of equipment would be an asset.
· Familiar with automation systems.
Other Requirements:
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests
Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check
Must be able to crawl, climb, stand, and lift up to 50 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations.
Must be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam
Must have a valid driver's license, and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record
Must be available for regular overnight domestic travel and occasional international travel
U.S. passport a plus
Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays, and nights.
If applying for position, must be eligible to work in the U.S. without need for employer sponsored visa (work permit).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60, $100,000.00 per year
