Latitude AI ) develops automated driving technologies, including L3, for Ford vehicles at scale. We're driven by the opportunity to reimagine what it's like to drive and make travel safer, less stressful, and more enjoyable for everyone.

When you join the Latitude team, you'll work alongside leading experts across machine learning and robotics, cloud platforms, mapping, sensors and compute systems, test operations, systems and safety engineering – all dedicated to making a real, positive impact on the driving experience for millions of people.

As a Ford Motor Company subsidiary, we operate independently to develop automated driving technology at the speed of a technology startup. Latitude is headquartered in Pittsburgh with engineering centers in Dearborn, Mich., and Palo Alto, Calif.

Meet the team:

The Embedded Software team is responsible for developing the hardware drivers, sensor streaming, hardware safety monitoring, and vehicle interfaces for the autonomy system. As a Camera ISP software engineer on the sensor team, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of the ISP software algorithms, ISP integration and Image quality for the camera sensing system. We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer with strong C++ expertise to work on Camera ISP (Image Signal Processing) systems. This role sits at the intersection of software, imaging algorithms and camera hardware.

What you'll do:

  • Develop C++ components for ISP control/configuration and data flow management
  • Integrate and maintain vendor ISP libraries into the camera software stack
  • Drive system-level design decisions balancing image quality, performance and latency
  • Work with ISP algorithms such as - Auto Exposure(AE), Auto White Balance (AWB), Noise reduction, HDR and tone mapping
  • Establish best practices for ISP bring-up, tuning integration, Image quality debugging and ISP tuning validation and tuning releases
  • Develop optimal imager register settings to balance image quality and pipeline needs by working closely with the imager vendor
  • Debug image quality issues using raw frames, ISP statistics and camera pipeline logs
  • Strategize ISP roadmap by collaborating closely with Camera Hardware team, Imager Vendor, SoC Vendor and external ISP vendors

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field and 7+ years of relevant experience (or Master's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience, or PhD and 2+ years of relevant experience)
  • Strong C++ experience in modern C++ with development of embedded systems.
  • Solid understanding of Camera ISP concepts, imaging pipelines and hardware accelerators (ISP, GPU etc).
  • Strong knowledge of camera hardware including - Image Sensors, ISP hardware blocks and SoC architecture.
  • Familiarity with low-level debugging including registers, memory and timing issues.
  • Experience with Linux or Embedded OS camera stacks

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Automotive specific camera sensors and SoCs
  • Familiarity with MIPI CSI-2 / C-PHY/ D-PHY, Camera frameworks (OpenVx), Image quality tuning processes and image quality validation workflows
