The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and quoting electrical systems across a variety of industrial and commercial environments. This includes supporting in-house facility needs as well as servicing a diverse customer base with new system installations, system upgrades, and troubleshooting of existing electrical infrastructure. The role requires strong technical proficiency, the ability to interpret complex electrical documentation, effective communication skills, and consistent adherence to safety standards. The electrician is expected to manage projects independently, provide accurate assessments and quotes, and represent the company professionally across a large geographic territory.
Requirements:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)
- Demonstrate proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprint drawings, schematics, and documentation for complex industrial and commercial electrical systems.
- Diagnose issues within electrical power systems across both preexisting structures and new construction projects, providing accurate and timely solutions.
- Maintain clear and diligent communication with internal service teams, utility providers, and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated and efficient service delivery.
- Prepare detailed, accurate quotes for new installations, system upgrades, and upfits based on customer needs, required power capacities, and applicable electrical codes.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures, ensuring proper use of PPE and compliance with company, industry, and regulatory standards.
- Consistently present a professional image and deliver high-quality service in all customer interactions.
- Travel regularly throughout an extended service territory to support both customer locations and company-owned facilities, including occasional overnight travel.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Certified electrician; multi-state certifications preferred to support east-coast service needs.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical work.
- At least 2 years of experience performing quotes for electrical system installations, upgrades, and repairs.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Certified electrician qualified for both industrial and commercial electrical applications.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong time-management and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and internal team members.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure, managing multiple tasks or priorities as needed.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including out-of-town assignments.
- Basic proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and email communication.
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude, supported by extensive hands-on troubleshooting experience.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mill-wide electrical power systems involving AC and DC voltages from 12V and 24V through 500V DC and 120/240V, 480V AC ranges.
- Proficient in installing and maintaining electrical distribution equipment such as conductors, conduits, cable trays, power panels, and motor control centers.
- Operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery, including motors, solenoids, servos, pumps, drives, relays, three-phase power, communication devices, industrial/electronic controls, and power transmission systems.
- Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot AC drives.
- Ability to install and troubleshoot basic three-phase motor control circuits.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and instrumentation drawings, diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Proficient in working within the Microsoft environment and using relevant software tools.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to work effectively in fast-paced industrial and commercial settings such as steel fabrication facilities, HVAC shops, and steel processing centers. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and manual dexterity required for electrical work and use of tools. Ability to safely work with and around high-voltage equipment. Must possess strong hand-eye coordination and be able to move freely in industrial and shop environments. Ability to lift and transport components or equipment weighing at least 50 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work environments may include exposure to grease, industrial fluids, noise, and electrical hazards. Noise levels vary from moderate to elevated depending on the client location or company facility. Work may occur indoors or outdoors depending on project requirements and customer site conditions.
