Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or other health challenges. The role involves supporting residents in their daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. Candidates should have a strong commitment to patient-centered care and the ability to work effectively in a team setting within home and community care environments.
Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patients' vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior
- Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning as needed
- Operate equipment such as Hoyer lifts and ensure proper safety protocols are followed during transfers
- Maintain cleanliness of the living environment, including light cleaning duties
- Document patient progress and communicate effectively with healthcare teams
- Support residents with memory care needs, including Alzheimer's and dementia care strategies
- Assist with transportation to medical appointments or community activities when required
- Follow prescribed care plans tailored to individual needs, ensuring compliance with all safety standards
Skills
- Experience working in assisted living, group homes, nursing homes, or home & community care settings preferred
- Knowledge of patient monitoring, medication administration, and vital signs measurement
- Certifications such as First Aid, CPR, and HIPAA compliance are highly desirable
- Ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or dementia-related conditions
- Strong caregiving skills including assisting with ADLs and providing compassionate support
- Physical ability for heavy lifting and safe patient transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts
- Excellent observation skills for patient safety and behavior monitoring
- Effective communication skills for working with residents, families, and healthcare teams
- Ability to follow detailed care plans and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for those served
