Summary:
At our plant, safety is more than just a mandate – it is a collective duty and a fundamental principle. We are seeking a Safety Supervisor who is passionate about safeguarding individuals, strengthening processes, and working closely with employees and management to identify risks, drive compliance, and turn safety standards into everyday habits. This role is based in Bell, California, Monday thru Friday, salary range is $85,000-$95,000 depending on experience/education and will report directly to the Plant Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain Plant Safety program to meet legal, corporate and all plant requirements (i.e., conduct safety orientation, responsible for safety audits, coordinating annual required testing – respiratory, audio & fit test, accident investigations, etc.).
- Improve Plant Safety record. Provide plant teams, plans, and action steps to ensure success in improving safety performance using WCM principles of zero accidents.
- Participate in required staff meetings, prepare periodic control reports, and coordinate activities with the Production Manager daily. Confers with other managers regarding all safety activities.
- Provide staff training and supervision to meet departmental safety objectives. Ensure all management and employees are adequately trained and have the tools to meet department needs.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable occupational health, environmental, and safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Safety Certification from an accredited training program, or safety classes from an accredited school.
- 3-5 years as a safety specialist.
- Experience and knowledge in conducting safety audits, including a strong understanding of safety regulations, risk assessment methodologies, hazard identification techniques, and the ability to thoroughly evaluate safe work practices and procedures to identify potential safety concerns and recommend corrective actions.
- Bilingual – English is preferred.
- Ability to work well as a team-member.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
- Provide in-person training and support at monthly safety committee meetings.
- Strong data entry skills in entering information in tracking systems.
- Written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to include effective proof-reading and proper grammatical presentations.
- Keen analytical skills reflecting the ability to be proactive with ability to pay keen attention to the smallest details.
- Proven organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks, delegate, and follow-up
- Must be able to manage time effectively and adhere to strict deadlines.
- Ability to interact with city or government agencies.
- Prepare and work with the Environmental Director to complete mandatory environmental reports.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time, talk, hear, or smell; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; walk on uneven terrain, sit, climb multiple platforms both stairs and vertical ladders, work from elevated structures, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
