Purpose:
Safely operate vehicles to transport equipment for the dealership. During delivery, this person may instruct customers on basic equipment operating procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Transports equipment to/from customers and/or between dealer facilities primarily using a rollback truck
- Supports the sales department with equipment delivery as needed
- May assist the parts department with part order pickups
- Maintains activity records and obtains necessary signatures and receipts
- May offload semi-trucks as needed
- Maintains all required certifications in line with DOT, OSHA, and company policy
- Accountable for all time and distance traveled in performing assigned duties
- May instruct customers on basic equipment operating procedures as required
- May participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge
- Operates and maintains vehicles, tools, and equipment required to perform job responsibilities
- Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
- Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
- Maintains knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
- Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service
- Other appropriate responsibilities assigned by manager
Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge:
- 1+ years' experience pulling a gooseneck, tilt, or utility trailer; experience as a semi-truck operator is a plus.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required
- Experience in hauling irregular and oversized loads.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, traffic laws, and safe driving practices.
- Knowledge of proper load securement techniques.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Driving record that meets insurance company parameters.
- Ability to lift items weighing 75 lbs. repeatedly.
- Ability to pass DOT physical examination and obtain Medical Examiner's Certificate may be required.
